The short nap of the nubuck lifts the raised areas: the curve of the instep, the edge of the toe, the crease that forms over the ankle after a while on your feet. Mid-calf boot, 5 cm platform, zip hidden on the inner side.
Design and stride
There are 5 cm of sole under the heel and a little over three under the toe: the actual difference between one end and the other is 1.5 cm, so the foot sits almost level inside the boot. That changes how you land: the heel comes down flat and the weight moves forward onto the metatarsals without the push a heel gives you. The edge is grooved horizontally all the way round, and those grooves are what bite into a wet doorstep. Despite the thickness, the Softlight sole weighs very little: the platform shows more than it registers.
Materials and construction
The nubuck upper wraps the ankle with a single seam, centred at the heel, and that cleanness is what lets the blue read as one whole surface. It's a material that shows water, so a protective spray before first wear keeps the tone more even. Inside, a 100% recycled PL lining with a warm hand, finished with a fleece trim showing at the top of the shaft. The insole is removable and the interior is chrome-free tanned. 360º Stitched Strobel construction: the sole is stitched around the full perimeter, giving a flexible join where the foot bends.
Size guide
Comfort last, generous across the toes, in your usual size. There's no lace or buckle to adjust and nubuck gives very little across the width: the internal volume is what it is, and you get in through the inner zip. Try them with the thick winter sock you'll actually wear; if they feel snug, the insole lifts out and you gain a few millimetres.
